THE PLANT FAIR IS A GENERATIONAL THING
Betty Balfour and Eva Schafer were among the First Parish plantswomen who began our Fair in 1953. For the past several years their offspring, Jean Balfour and Marty Schaefer, have been the backbone of the Fair – making certain that the best heritage perennials are dug and potted in time for the sale as well as sourcing the best available nursery-grown annuals, veggie seedlings, herbs, shrubs and planters.
